Airlift Bolsters 2 Camps
BU KRAK, Vietnam— Air Force Cl30s aided two U.S. Army Special
Forces camps near the Cambodian border about 100 miles north of Saigon
when they answered an urgent call for defense supplies.
A little addition that was left out of the story. The Aerial
delivery/mobility section (14th APS) at CRB did most of the rigging for
this air drop. The Army (109th)was tied up with air drops up north. All
the Air Force riggers at CRB were from Travis AFB in the Aerial
Delivery/Mobility Section/CCT and had only been in Vietnam a couple
months. I was at OLAD (Dalat) at this time on mobility, but later
(March or April 68) most of the Air Force Rigger in Vietnam were called
into CRB and Na Trang to assist the Army in the resupply of KS.

My father was Travis A. Dixon. He was a CCT member most of his career.
He appears in pictures from Germany early 1960's, 1st Aerial Port
Squadron, Lockbourne AFB 1966/1967, Lockbourne Operation Cold Wind
1967, 1st Air Commando Wing, England AFB 1967/1968, and he fought in
Vietnam 1969-1970 (Tan Sun Nhut, Rang-Rang, Saigon).

most that knew him called him DR or Dick we were stationed at Donaldson
then Germany, Seward AFB Tenn, Evreux Fallville France, Milldenhall

Parkersburg WV he passed away 1996 My mother is Jean Smith She has an

shit Sgt., two burning, two turning, flack so thick I could walk on
it." 1982 Hurlburt Field, Joe Ray, Bob Jeffers and Tony Meyer streak
the NCO Club only to discover that Joe Ray placed his underwear on his
head hiding his face, whereby exiting the club and wearing cowboy
boots, Joe Ray tumbles down the stairs into the parking lot nearly
getting caught. Clearly, Joe Ray, a Texan, did not understand that a
couple of steps, as revealed by an earlier recon, meant four or five
steps. My apologies to Joe Ray for that disruption of the exit that
night. Needless to say, later that night we were quite popular with the
ladies on Fort Waton Beach.
Just a day in the life of a combat controller. A shout out to all CCT...brothers forever.

a part of our training "Chief" has us do research on our history to

On
the road with my Swiss miss, Silvia and the Basenji Beast Eddie.
Stopped by and spent an evening with Dave Gfeller. He is living well
despite his disabilities. He could sure use some friends to stop by or
evencall 909-862-2720. Also spent some time with Eddie Pound and Cindy.
They are living the life in Marana, Az. Cindy is doing well recovering
from her chemo, Eddie is not a cute nurse but a good one. Then there is
Tom and Sherrie Royer in Green Valley, Az. They maybe older but not
grown up. They are staying active and looking good. We've been to the
Sonora desert, Grand canyon, Monument Valley, Arches National Park,
Bryce Canyon and tonightin Las Vegas. Thank you CCT for all that you do
and you Mac and Jill for keping our Brotherhood strong. Death Valley
tomorrow, love below sea level, maybe I'll let you know if I survive.

cross trained into CCT with the help of the late Sgt. Travis Dixson at
Lockbourne AFB. in 1967. then PCS to Charelston, South Carolina for
about a yr. We hit the silk about twice a day down there with the help
from 6 Army jumpers .Has anyone any info on Sgt. Romey Outlaw ??? What
a interesting old salty troop ! Then it was PCS to Clark AFB in the PI
where we spent a lot of time TDY all over SEA. seems like trouble found
me there or in reality I found it. If my old buddy Richard Hilton reads
this I just wanted to thank him for coming to Ft. Benning on the 4th of
July in '67 and taking me out of Jump school for a day so I could relax
around their pool and drinking their beer. I HAVE PICTURES TO POST LATER
